Introduction:
When a mother loses a child the sorrow is fathomless. However if the child was nursing and the milk accumulates waiting for the baby ,the reminder of the interminable wait becomes agony.
Prophet Muhammad pbuh and Khadija RA had their first son die early in childhood while he was still at the age of nursing.
This Hadith speaks of the children who have left the tribulations of this world and have become the flowers of Jannah. It brings solace to the mothers knowing that they are being taken care of with gentle hands at the orders of the Almighty Himself.
HADITH SUNAN IBN MAJAH 1512, CHAPTER 8, REGARDING FUNERALS
Husain bin ‘Ali said: “When Qasim the son of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) died, Khadijah said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, the milk of Qasim’s mother is overflowing. Would that Allah had let him live until he had finished breastfeeding.’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘He will complete his breastfeeding in Paradise.’ She said: ‘If I know that, O Messenger of Allah, it makes it easier for me to bear.’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘If you wish, I will pray to Allah to let you hear his voice.’ She said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, rather I believe Allah and His Messenger.’”
Hadees in urdu translation
حسین بن علی رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے صاحبزادے قاسم کا انتقال ہو گیا، تو ام المؤمنین خدیجہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! قاسم جس پستان سے دودھ پیتے تھے اس میں دودھ جمع ہو گیا ہے، کاش کہ اللہ ان کو باحیات رکھتا یہاں تک کہ دودھ کی مدت پوری ہو جاتی، تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ان کی مدت رضاعت جنت میں پوری ہو رہی ہے تو خدیجہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! اگر یہ بات مجھے معلوم رہی ہوتی تو مجھ پر ان کا غم ہلکا ہو گیا ہوتا، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اگر تم چاہو تو میں اللہ سے دعا کروں کہ وہ قاسم کی آواز تمہیں سنا دے ، خدیجہ رضی اللہ عنہا بولیں: ( نہیں ) بلکہ میں اللہ اور اس کے رسول کی تصدیق کرتی ہوں۔
Hadees in Arabic:
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ أَبِي الْوَلِيدِ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ، عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ الْحُسَيْنِ، عَنْ أَبِيهَا الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: لَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ الْقَاسِمُ ابْنُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَتْ خَدِيجَةُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، دَرَّتْ لُبَيْنَةُ الْقَاسِمِ فَلَوْ كَانَ اللَّهُ أَبْقَاهُ حَتَّى يَسْتَكْمِلَ رِضَاعَهُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: إِنَّ تَمَامَ رَضَاعِهِ فِي الْجَنَّةِ ، قَالَتْ: لَوْ أَعْلَمُ ذَلِكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَهَوَّنَ عَلَيَّ أَمْرَهُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: إِنْ شِئْتِ دَعَوْتُ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى فَأَسْمَعَكِ صَوْتَهُ ، قَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، بَلْ أُصَدِّقُ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
DISCUSSION: ( HADEES LESSON WITH MUFTI KAKAKHAIL) IN SUMMARY:
When Qasim RA son passed away, Khadija RA said that the place from Qasim used to drink milk (nursing) has collected, I wish that his time had been expanded so he could have completed his milk suckling time.
RA SAW said Qasim is completing his milk drinking time in Jannah,
Khadija said had I known this then this sorrow would become less,
RA SAW said: Khadija if you say I can ask Allah to let you hear Qasims voice
Khadija said “No, I completely confirm Allah and his Rasools word” ( Comfort and trust in RasoolAllah SAW word) ( we should also learn from this)
(i.e Qasim is in Jannah and he is completing his milk drinking age)
DUA: May Allah place the hand of solace on the hearts of mothers who have lost their children to death.
