Surah Al Maidah: commandments for purification (Tazkiyah)

 [5:1] Saheeh International

FULFIL YOUR WORD/PURIFICATION OF INTENT

O you who have believed, fulfill [all] contracts.

(Purify your niyyah when you make contracts)

[5:2] Saheeh International

O you who have believed,

PURIFICATION FROM SIN

1. do not violate the rites of Allah (Be knowledgeable of the rites of Allah so as not to violate them)

Or

2. [the sanctity of] the sacred month or [neglect the marking of] the sacrificial animals and garlanding [them]

or

3. [violate the safety of] those coming to the Sacred House seeking bounty from their Lord and [His] approval. But when you come out of ihram, then [you may] hunt.

 

4. And do not let the hatred of a people for having obstructed you from al-Masjid al-Haram lead you to transgress. (diseases of the heart that lead to hatred: arrogance, Bughaz, envy, hirsz, greed)

 

5. And cooperate in righteousness and piety, (transparency of actions)

 

6. but do not cooperate in sin and aggression. (knowledge of what is sin and what is aggression so that you are not tricked into it by a cover)

 

7. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty. (Be where Allah wants you to be and do not be where he does not want you to be)

 

[5:6] Saheeh International

EXTERNAL PURIFICATION TO PREPARE FOR INTERNAL PURIFICATION

WUDU

O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows and wipe over your heads and wash your feet to the ankles.

And

GHUSL

if you are in a state of janabah, then purify yourselves.

TAYAMMUM

But if you are ill or on a journey or one of you comes from the place of relieving himself or you have contacted women and do not find water, then seek clean earth and wipe over your faces and hands with it.

EASE OF PURIFICATION

Allah does not intend to make difficulty for you, but He intends to purify you and complete His favor upon you

GRATITUDE

that you may be grateful.

 

[5:35] Saheeh International

O you who have believed,

INNER PURIFICATION TO STRENGHTEN THE CONTACT WITH ALLAH

1. fear Allah (taqwa: Allah consciousness at all times)
2. and seek the means [of nearness] to Him ( Dhikr: obligatory and extras) and

strive in His cause that you may succeed.(struggle for what he has commanded, primarily: truth and justice)
