Her mother had dedicated her to the service of Allah when she was in her mother’s womb. Unbeknownst to the mother who was surprised that it was a girl and wondered how a girl could serve God, till Allah Subhanawataala himself accepted the girl as his ebad.
She saw him from afar and he was approaching her, a handsome man, and backed away in fear……..putting her hand out to stop him. “I am Gabriel” he said, she felt relieved but also afraid and overcome with what it meant to have an angel of God coming to her. His next words shattered her: “ You will have a son” and then he blew into her the spirit from Allah……. “How can I when no man has ever touched me………” she said, and thus began the arduous climb for her towards Allah in the face of the predators waiting to label her with the scarlet letter.
On the day after the birth of her son she came out carrying him, silent, as she had been commanded to be so, and all hell break loose.
She had withdrawn into the mosque in a state of purity to pray and get closer to God and had come out with a son without marriage…..
Slander was ripe in the air and on the lips of the Rabbis, the elders and the knaves alike.
Commanded to silence she could not even say a word to defend herself…….. And then as God had promised the baby spoke from her arms.
In Surah Maryam 19: 27-34 the poignant moments are described vividly:
Then she brought him to her own folk, carrying him. They said: O Mary! Thou hast come with an amazing thing. (27) O sister of Aaron! Thy father was not a wicked man nor was thy mother a harlot. (28) Then she pointed to him. They said: How can we talk to one who is in the cradle, a young boy? (29)
He spake: Lo! I am the slave of Allah. He hath given me the Scripture and hath appointed me a Prophet, (30) And hath made me blessed wheresoever I may be, and hath enjoined upon me prayer and almsgiving so long as I remain alive, (31) And (hath made me) dutiful toward her who bore me, and hath not made me arrogant, unblest. (32) Peace on me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I shall be raised alive! (33) Such was Jesus, son of Mary: (this is) a statement of the truth concerning which they doubt. (34)
Allah Subhanawataala says thus of the slanderers of Maryam AS in particular:
004.156 That they rejected Faith; that they uttered against Mary a grave false charge;

And thus……….the pure, innocent Maryam (AS) was the not the first nor will be the last woman to be slandered on this earth……….
Then the punishments came for the slanderers some administered in this world and some in the Hereafter…
