ADVICE FROM SHEIKH SA’AD AL GHAMDI

Dr FARHAT HASHMI RELATED THIS (alhudapk.com)

Imam Sa’a Al Ghamdi was asked for advice:

Here are his answers:

BACKGROUND

Lived in Dammam, He then joined the University to study Usool e Quran (four years)

WHEN DID YOU HIFZ THE QURAN?

He said he memorized the Quran during the four years of the University.

He said in the evenings after classes finished I struggled and persisted to Hifz the Quran.

WHEN DID YOUR FIND THE TIME TO DO HIFZ WHILE A UNIVERSITY STUDENT?

His voice was beautiful and he used to sing nasheeds, but when he learned Qiraat he also used a separate Musaf to study the tafseer and would underline the ayah that he did not understand.

He said in the Quran there are many many places where we are asked to reflect and do Taddabur of the Quran.

WHY DOES YOUR QIRAAT AFFECT SO MANY PEOPLE?

When he recites the Quran and recordings were made, he was thinking about the message of the ayahs as he was reciting.

FAMILY?

He said:

He has three children

His father was very loving and soft, “when as a child, I learned Surah Ma’arij he gave me 10 riyals.”

HOW TO FOCUS?

When I would do Hifz I would go to a masjed where there were not too many people and no one knew me.

WHAT TYPE OF QIRAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?

He said he had known Hufz and he said it is better to reflect and understand on the Quran first than do Hifz

WHAT WAS YOUR LIFE DREAM?

My dream was:

1.  To Hifz the Quran

2. I wanted to make an organization where people would learn the Quran and finesse their personalities. (Also done)

WHAT DO YOU WISH FOR?

I wish that the Ulema would improve the relations ship with each other

Muslims would lead the world so that people find peace and the path towards Allah.

LESSONS FROM THIS INTERVIEW AND ADVICE

Even if one is busy in studies at the University one can learn if one has the desire and sets a goal.

He used his time well and did not fritter it away in “hanging out” in the evenings.

Look at your niyyah why you are reciting and do not do it in haste, as it ruins the quality of the Qiraat.
