Connections: Surah Noor (24) and Surah Furqan(25)

The new and the ancient transportations: At the Mount of Olives, overlooking Jerusalem

An Introduction to Surah Furqan 25:1-5 and its connection with the end of Surah Noor 24: 63-64.

Excerpted from Sr. HY retreat presentation in SA

Surah Furqan is a Meccan Surah, and has a sajdah in it.

The beginning is Tabarak (blessings) and the end is punishment (arrogance of the pagans)

Connection with Surah Noor, which ends with, and Furqan starts with……..

Surah Noor ends with:

Make not the calling of the messenger among you as your calling one of another. Allah knoweth those of you who steal away, hiding themselves. And let those who conspire to evade orders beware lest grief or painful punishment befall them. (63) Lo! verily unto Allah belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and the earth. He knoweth your condition. And (He knoweth) the Day when they are returned unto Him so that He may inform them of what they did. Allah is Knower of all things. (64)

Surah Furqan: Begins with the blessings of Allah and then talks about Prophet Muhammad pbuh

Surah Furqan begins with:

Al-Furqan

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Blessed is He Who hath revealed unto His slave the Criterion (of right and wrong), that he may be a warner to the people. (1) He unto Whom belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth, He hath chosen no son nor hath He any partner in the Sovereignty. He hath created everything and hath meted out for it a measure. (2) Yet they choose beside Him other gods who create naught but are themselves created, and possess not hurt nor profit for themselves, and possess not death nor life, nor power to raise the dead. (3) Those who disbelieve say: This is naught but a lie that he hath invented, and other folk have helped him with it, so that they have produced a slander and a lie. (4) And they say: Fables of the men of old which he hath had written down so that they are dictated to him morn and evening.

THE CONNECTION:

Surah Noor ends with Allah Subhanawataala commanding us to respect the Messenger (pbuh) and reminding us of His (Subhanawataala’a) might and that he owns the Universe and will call into account all those who disobeyed or conspired against Him.

Surah Furqan begins with Blessings of Allah and the respect of the Rasool (pbuh) on whom the Criterion is being revealed and then the separation of the pagan thought process from the Believer.

The pagan disrespecting and arrogant in the fact of Allah and his Messenger (pbuh), The Believer the opposite.
