Explanation of the HIKAM OF Ibn Ata’allah Al Iskandari, based on the Quran and Sunnah, explained by Sheikh Mokhtar Maghraoui:
22. IN EVERY BREATH YOU TAKE, HE HAS IN YOU A DECREE TO EXECUTE.
No moment in time exists without a decree of Allah subhaanahu wa Ta’ala, based on purpose, knowledge and wisdom. Not a heart beat of mine, not a breath inhaled or exhaled – except that Allah, subhaanahu wa Ta’ala has already decreed something for me . How then can I not strive to give due justice to every second?
As Rasul Allah, sallaAllahu alayhi wa sallim teaches “ All the hearts of all humans are like a single heart between the fingers of Ar Rahman – He does to them what He pleases”
11:56 Behold, I have placed my trust in Allah, [who is] my Sustainer as well as your Sustainer: for there is no living creature which He does not hold by its forelock. Verily, straight is my Sustainer’s way!
Sidi Ibn ‘Ata’illah teaching us of Allah subhaanahu wa ta’ala’s sovereignty over everything that exists – Be an ‘Abd of Allah – whether He gives or takes, whether He elevates or abases, whether He expands or constricts – FOR TRUE HAPPINESS IS SURRENDERING TO HIS DECREE.
