A short yet powerfully moving Surah – Beginning with an oath by the Glorious Qur’an and ending with a reminder of this great Blessing and source of Admonition for the God conscious and the Heedless.
The surah pulsates with its short and rhyming verses striking like a hammer that leaves human hearts trembling. It revolves around Allah swt’s ONENESS (TAWHID) and takes us on a breathtaking journey through the heavens and earth, past and present, resurrection and beyond. The final scenes of paradise and Hell are unforgettable – Will we hear? Will we feel ? Will we take heed ???
بِسمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحمَـنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Ha Mim. (1) By the Book that makes things clear― (2) We sent it down during a blessed night: for We (ever) wish to warn (against Evil). (3) In that (night) is made distinct every affair of wisdom (4) By Command, from Our presence. For We (ever) send (Revelations) (5) As a Mercy from thy Lord: for He hears and knows (all things); (6) The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between them if ye (but) have an assured faith. (7) There is no god but He: it is He Who gives life and gives death the Lord and Cherisher to you and your earliest ancestors.(8)
THE BLESSED NIGHT OF REVELATION OF THE QUR’AN – Lailatul Qadr – The surah is the fourth of the seven surahs that begin with the Arabic letters HA-MIM. The soundest explanation of the meaning of these letters is “We don’t know – Allah alone knows”. Allah swt begins with an oath – Remember the One swearing : Allah swt Himself – Remember the sworn : The Glorious Qur’an – addressing human hearts, transforming generations and societies by its clear message – a Guidance for hearts sincerely seeking Him swt and a source of Merciful love from from The Infinitely Merciful Himself ar Rahman- Reflect on the value of the Qur’an. Everything in it is good for us in our dunyaa and Aakhirah – Don’t worry ! Don’t doubt! Submit to Him, swt and live by it. He swt is All Hearing ( my silent du’as , my struggle against the whispers of my nafs and Shaytan), He is All Knowing ) (knows every uphill struggle, tear of pain or joy, knows what is good for me and what is not) .
The RABB – Creator, Sustainer and Lord of all that exists, The One who Gives Life and Takes it, The Only One worthy of Love, Fear,Hope and Worship – HOW CAN I NOT TRUST IN HIM, RELY UPON HIM AND HEED HIS MESSAGE??? The reason is painfully obvious – I lack certainty of Faith in His words, His Messenger , in Resurrection and Accounting.
