IFTAAR ON THE OCEANSIDE

It is seldom that I pause and watch life without a deadline to meet. Here is what I saw from late Asr through Maghrib by the oceanside in Ramadan.

before Asr, a butterfly busy with honey

before Asr, a butterfly busy with honey

The lone fisherbird preparing for Iftaar as the sun dips slowly in the west

The lone fisherbird preparing for Iftaar as the sun dips slowly in the west

The lone bird, is nervous in my presence

The lone bird, is nervous in my presence

Water sink for Bird wudu

Water sink for Bird wudu

Congregational Iftaar with the gulls facing Qibla and just waiting

Some doing wudu?

Some doing wudu?

Some fly to check out the dinner

Some fly to check out the dinner

...............But mostly they wait patiently

...............But mostly they wait patiently

Suddenly the sun dips and there is a commotion, the birds are in flight and diving for fish enbloc it is time to open the fast, I too must run

Suddenly the sun dips and there is a commotion, the birds are in flight and diving for fish enbloc it is time to open the fast, I too must run

I look back at the birds in flight with the 'dates' in their beaks

I look back at the birds in flight with the food in their beaks

Maghrib in all its slendour as I head for home

Maghrib in all its splendor as I head for home

May Allah give us the sabr of these birds who sat patiently infront of fresh food and waited for Iftaar.
