TAQWA تقوى

تقوى Taqwa is when one protects oneself from Allahu, Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala’s Wrath (غضب),  and His Punishment (عذاب) and
His Displeasure.

When one truly loves Allahu Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala, fearing that He would be displeased is enough to induce consciousness of His commandments and prohibitions – This is Taqwa !

تقوى  is the Shield of Good deeds that one places between oneself and Allahu, Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala’s punishment.

Taqwa is mentioned 258 times in the Holy Qur’an and this emphasizes the priority given by Allahu, Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala to it.

Meaning of تقوى   linguistically ( لغة ) : تقوى   is derived from the verb وقى  which means to shield / protect from something.
Meaning of Taqwa تقوى with regards to the Deen (شرعا ) : تقوى   is to put a shield between oneself and the displeasure / wrath / punishment of Allahu, Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala.
