SECRETS OF THE WOMB….

October 30, 2008 · 5 Comments

Sahih Bukhari; Volume 1, Book 6, Number 315:

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

The Prophet said, “At every womb Allah appoints an angel who says, ‘O Lord! A drop of semen, O Lord! A clot. O Lord! A little lump of flesh.” Then if Allah wishes (to complete) its creation, the angel asks, (O Lord!) Will it be a male or female, a wretched or a blessed, and how much will his provision be? And what will his age be?’ So all that is written while the child is still in the mother’s womb.”

    Dear sister,
    Assalamualaikum
So for the last 20 years I had been loving my son with a ticking time bomb, not knowing that he will be leaving this world? All our hope, aspiration, desire, love, everything was destined to be snuffed out, even before he was born. All my sincere prayer for his well being were discarded even before he was born? May Allah forgive me but in human terms one would call it sadisism.
Inna lillahe wa inna ilihe rajeun.
    Regards

    Waalikum Asalaam Brother Anis,

Would you have loved him any less, had you known?

Would you have placed your hope, aspiration, desire, love elsewhere? and where?

Were your sincere prayers only for his benefits in this dunya?

    Dear Sister,
No I do not want to know. No one wants to know. But I think it is only natural to think that my efforts for the well being of my child would effect the outcome. Then we are back to the discussion of Takdir etc, and my knowledge is too small for the enormity of the event.
    Regards,

    Asalaamoalaikum Brother Anis
As I understand it : There are many things we understand and those that we do not, we have been commanded to be “sabir” about them.
That is the biggest challenge for me and I am struggling with it.

It is in our fitra to love our children. Perhaps how we perform our duty towards them may be more important than our love for them.

May Allah SWT forgive me for any shortcomings in my tarbiyah of my children.

However though “children , wealth & power” have been given to us by Allah SWT as a naimah, and we may love and desire each one, but as Allah SWT says in Surah Kahf, these can also become our tests, and if indulged in excessively may make us forget the purpose of our life.

Having said all this at the intellectual level, I too am struggling, and waiting for all this understanding to sink into my heart and mind, and bring me peace and submission, where I can place myself in His (SWT) hands without questions, grief or strife.

For now I am doing good if I can hang on to His (SWT) rope. without slipping into the abyss of despair.

May Allah SWT strengthen your and my (and all the parents of deceased children’s) grip on His (SWT) rope.
